Welcome to the new website of New England Light Opera! New content is being added all the time. Check back often.

“Moving,” “powerful,” “beautiful,” and “emotional” were all words that cam up again and again from audience members after the premiere of The Great War at 100 last weekend. Be sure to catch it Nov. 15th in Melrose or Nov. 16th in Brookline!

New on the site: the featured work on our Great War program is Ivor Gurney’s The Western Playland (and of sorrow.) This will be the American premiere of this new edition of the work, edited by Dr. Philip Lancaster. Dr. Lancaster has also provided us with an illuminating program note on the work. Read it here first, then join us for these powerful and moving concerts. Click here: Western_Playland note

In the meantime, here’s our next event:

TheGreatWarPosterFinalSmJoin us this November for this moving, beautiful, and powerful program of music and poetry evoking both the direct and reflected experience of war.
